Our Impact
Wedgetail Retreat -Community Hospice – started with a dream; A deep desire to fulfil the community need for an inclusive, 24/7 specialised palliative care facility in the region.
Clients with a life-limiting illness and their families are welcomed into our modern ‘home-like’ environment set amongst the rainforest. Friendly registered nursing staff and trained volunteer palliative carers offer a client-centred approach to caring for you and your loved ones. The vulnerable and disadvantaged are cared for free of charge. Clients and families that can afford to, donate funds to assist with the daily operational costs of the hospice.
Despite our popular hospice taking the burden off the health system, especially for high need palliative clients and those who do not have a full-time carer at home, we are not government funded by NSW state government.
Each year, our combined hospice services support more than 600 palliative clients and this number increases into the thousands when our other client and family support services are included.
TPS offers best practice, client-centred emotional and physical palliative care support. We collaborate with multi-disciplinary medical teams and community services (volunteer, nursing homes, home health agencies, councils, social workers, community health workers) in the Northern Rivers region and beyond.
